Which Acrobat offline version to buy?

New Here ,
Dec 27, 2016 Dec 27, 2016

Dear All,

I used Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional since the past 7 years. Now I don't have the installer or the keys. I need to buy an offline solution which I can reinstall on the laptops that I buy in future too.

My requirement is very basic, and I regularly used the following functions in Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional;

  • Make and Fill forms
  • Alter text in PDF documents, remove or add images
  • Typewriter function
  • Export to MS Office, and JPG, PNG
  • Reduce File Size
  • Remove metatags
  • Sign
  • Stamps
  • Compare documents
  • Insert headers, footers, page numbers
  • Merge several PDF files into one single file
  • Flatten docs such that images, stamps etc. are flattened
  • Print from different apps to PDF

I DO NOT need online collaboration tools, sending for sign etc.

I see various versions such as 9, 10, X Pro, XI Pro, and I am not sure what suits my needs.

What's the most suitable version that I can for my work?

Will this come as a CD or would I have to download the installer?

Season's greetings and thanks in advance!!

Dear Sir,

Many thanks for your prompt response. Is Adobe Reader DC available as a stand alone installation or only as subscription?

Reader DC is not what we said. We said Acrobat Pro DC. That's the current version, it replaced Acrobat Pro 8, 9, 10 (X) and 11 (XI), which are no longer officially sold.

It is available in subscription (very strongly recommended) and perpetual license versions. The perpetual license version is older and does not have all the features in the demo. Do NOT buy an upgrade unless you have a license to version 10 or 11.

Many thanks!! I can buy the subscription license only if the software will work offline, since I will not be connected to the net when I work on my documents.

Will the subscription model work offline?

Would you know what reduced functionality I would have to live with, in the perpetual license? I ask because the license should ideally activate all features, and you have mentioned "demo" in your response.

My apologies for taking everyone's time for this small query. Unfortunately, my knowledge on all such things is very limited.

The subscription model does work offline to the same extent that the perpetual license model does. You do need to be connected to the internet once every 30 days or so for Acrobat to validate its activation with Adobe. (This is done at program startup in the background!).
