That has to do with the original page rotation vs. the new page rotation. Just because both pages look the same does not necessarily mean that there were created using the same page rotation,. Some software thinks it's easier to create e.g. a landscape oriented page in portrait mode, and then set the page rotation information to always display or print the page with a rotation of 90 degrees, so that it appears as a landscape page. When you now copy an annotation from a document that has a page rotation of 90 degrees to a page with a page rotation of 0 degrees, you end up with a rotated annotation.

Where the page rotation parameter is annotated in a pdf file? May I change it with a text editor?
Thanks.

So how does one correct or work around this issue? I have dozens of documents, some with hundreds of comments (text, lines, and shapes), that are getting rotated 90 degrees when I import the old document data into the newer documention revisions.

Hey Scott,
This worked for me at one time. File_Save as Other_PDF/E. You'll get a couple of dialog boxes and select "OK". Then one more that will start processing the pdf saying replacing fonts. Open up that file and see if it works.

Incredible! Worked for me, too. How did you come across this solution? Couldn't have been that great Adobe help system - could it?
