I cannot RENAME my pdf files now in Windows  WHY?  And NO, I am NOT trying to change the extension. And NO, I am not trying to edit the document. It's a PDF file.  I just want to edit the NAME that I gave it. Never had this problem before!

You need to provide more information. How are you trying to rename the file? What happens when you do? What version of Acrobat are you using? What Windows version? etc.

Please give all of your steps and well as your OS.

  • On macOS you can rename a file in Finder while it is open, but in Windows OS you need to close it first before using Windows File Explorer.
  • Is it in a folder where you have persmissions?
  • If you get an error message, what is it?
