I spent bloody ages sorting my pdfs and arranging all of their contents through the bookmark feature; was pretty proud of myself and then decided to "star" my two pdf docs I spent the most time catergorising. ya know? Because they were quite precious and I wanted to seperate them from all my uncatergorised docs.

Does Adobe think their bloody funny or somethin'? Is my entire afternoon just a bloody joke to 'em? Cos it bloody feels like it.
Now I'm currently decending into the deepest pits of sadness as all of my hardwork seems to have been erased... as all of my bookmarks have been wiped of the face of the earth.
I'm sad now.
Edit: I tried to get over myself and remade all of my bookmarks. They stayed for a little while and I thought "Woah...is this...really gonna work out..?" No. No it wasn't. As soon as I opened a seperate PDF, the bookmarks on the former were eradicated completely. Is there some kind of save bookmarks function that I'm unaware of? Because I'm stumped and frankly, exhausted of bookmarking now. Better off just throwing everything in the Rubbish if it's going to vanish when I'm not lookin'.

I am having exactly the same problem ... I'm a court room advocate and I've wasted 4 hours of (now unbillable) time setting up bookmarks on an entire hearing documents bundle, only to see them disappear.
Without bookmarks that save, this product is completely useless (and I mean completely useless to me and all my colleagues). Unless I get an answer soon, it's Readdle for me!

windows 10 (on both desktop and laptop - I tried it on both and it went wrong on both)
acrobat Pro DC continuous release 2021.007.20099 ... you know ... the one people pay money for so it won't screw up their work 😉

Been using acrobat on my PC for yrears - neever ever had this issue before.
It happened twice - I bookmarked a 200 page contract and went to do an email. When I returned to teh pdf, everything gone.... I thought possibly because I didnt save it as I went along... So I did it all over again. Every 45 seconds or so saving teh pdf. Complete dteh job saved teh file. Re-opened it. all teh bookmarks gone.....un Fn believable.......

So I have a plug in that have an excellent plug in I have used for 6 years - it allows me to do various things with bookmarks - including exporting them to excel.
Interstingly, I bookmarked about 25% of the file again to test what was going on. Repeatedly saving as I went. I then tried to export the 18 or so bookmarks. When I open the excep spreadshteet , only one appears on the s/sheet. ?????
I have NEVER seen this before. I use bookmarks all teh time and often spend hour sand hours bookmarking very larg documents - It is TOTALLY unaccaptable that I canno depend on this function.....WHAT THE is going on adobe?????????????

Looks like a issue of this plug-in. Contact the support of the plug-in.

Bernd - i have used the plug in for over 6 years - it is a plug-in specifically designed to manage and work with bookmarks - Evermap. It has never caused any issues in that entire time and there have been no changes in its configuration recently. It has absolutely nothing to do with the plug in. I mentioned the plug in solely because I used it to try and check what was going on, and it was only seeing one bookmark when there were about 15. That mirrored my experience with the pdf, as when I closed it the 15 bookmarks would be gone and there would only be one.

Exactly the same problem here, I use 3.5 hr to book mark yesterday for a file and just disappear immediately after finish. I did it again today and make sure I saved multiple times during the procedure and disappear again! More weird thing is that the old bookmark from the original files appears again eventhough I delete them multiple times.

and tell me Bernd, if you really and truly think it is teh plug in (which I am certain it is not) why are all these oteh rpeople who clearly dont have teh plug in having EXACTLY the same issue?

exactly the same just happened to me.....WTF? I have been using acrobat for years and never ever had this issue - 2 hour sof work just completely disappeared.....

Exact same issue here using Windows 10 Acrobat DC Version 21.011.20039. All worked fine until last 2 days. Bookmarks disappearing...I recreate them, save the documents and upon reopening they are still gone.....Hours of work lost!!

IS any one at adobe going to do anything?
My legal practice relies on te bookmarking function. It is utterly ludicrous that I am paying for a professional product that has wasted hour and hour sof my time by effectively deleting hours and hours of work.

I have the same issue, I am using a 1.6 version PDF file with Acrobat Pro DC, and everytime I save and close my file all the bookmarks disappear, and there will be one bookmark named "Bookmarks" remaining which I did not create directing to the first page...

Same thing has happened to me. It seems to be localized to a specific document. All the bookmarks I make on this document erase upon saving and re-opening. As with others on here, hours of time were lost and this is both frustrating and discouraging. If this really is a 'Pro(fessional)' application--and one that we are paying handsomly for each month--these sorts of errors cannot be allowed to persist for what has now been nearly 2 years (since initial post). This is not professional on Adobe's part, and it prevents professional work from being completed on ours. A fix, or at least some ideas as to the issue, really ought to be forthcoming.
