Why do My Converted to PDF Files Have Specific Letters Missing?

I have been converting pages of my blogs (published on TravelArk website which does not have a ready facility to publish hard copy books) into PDF files by using the Print Function, then Save as PDF. I then compile the PDF chapters and send them to a printer for collating, numbering and printing as spiral-bound books - often in excess of 200 pages and mostly for my own records. I am dismayed that very often the converted to PDF text omits some letters within a word - such as "f" an "i" (often but not restricted to the word "flight"). It is difficult to spot and correct in the final PDF document as it does not have a spell check. And even when I correct it, it often converts back to the omission error once I have sent it on to the printers. I have read somewhere that others have had this problem. Can someone help me?

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described some letters are missing from the PDF created from the web page using the print function and then saving as PDF.

Please try to create the PDF using Adobe Acrobat DC application. Open the Acrobat DC > Go to File > Create > PDF from Web page and see if that works for you.

If it still doesn't work, you may try the following preference setting: Go to Edit (Win) < Adobe Acrobat (Mac) , Preferences > Page Display > Under Rendering, select 'Use Local Fonts' > Click OK and reboot the application and check.

If it still doesn't work, please open the PDF file and go to Tool > Print production > Preflight > Under 'select profile' , select ''List potential font problems'' and click on Analyse as shown below:

Then go to 'Select single fixups' > Select 'Enbedd missing Fonts' > Click on Fix and then resave the PDF with a new name and check.

You may also want to check out the website "Print Friendly." I've found that this site creates excellent web pages to PDF conversion with the added benefit of removing things that you do not need before the conversion.

Thank you for your time in replying to me Gary. I'll certainly have a look at the Print Friendly website.
