I always get a generic error on Adobe Acrobat DC when I try to create a PDF using certain image files.

File > Create > PDF from file...

If I select one of these image file, I get "A drawing error occurred".

Invalid Images

These images works fine if I create the PDF with other editors and libraries. The problem is that most of our clients use Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Hi ,

Please tell the OS you work on.

Reader would let them create any PDF' as it is not an apt software to create PDF'.

Please try to update your Acrobat and then if that fixes the issue.

Hi Reetika Ghai,

We are using a 32-bit color image to create a password protected PDF.

We are facing similar issue even with the latest patch as suggested, however below is the exact scenario:

  • Original PDF created - works fine.
  • Upon Save-as from the Adobe reader - Save successful; Though the file size is reduced.
  • When the saved PDF is re-opened
    • Error - "A drawing error occured". This is also encountered when scrolling through the document after save-as.
    • The 32-bit image is not visible - also issue in the content nearby the image.
  • When I am using Chrome or Foxit to do the same, it works fine.

Foxit does reduce the size, though the contents are displayed and no loss any other element is observed.

          Chrome preserves the size.

Please help as most of our clientele use Adobe.

Regards

Pardeep Kumar

Hi Pradeep,

Can you share the pdfs(original and erroneous one), so that we can find the cause. We are not able to reproduce the above mentioned error at our end. If the files are confidential then try a simple file which you can share.

Thanks and Regards,

Deben Sahu.

Hi

I have a similar issue

I have Office 2010 - I've created a slide show in PowerPoint and when I "Save as Adobe PDF" I am getting "A drawing error occurred" message on same pages - one one page just a headline is missing (I've deleted and replaced the headline to no avail)

On another page I have 8 photos and 4 of them are missing - along with the headline.

I'm running Windows 10 and all updates are up to date
