Why is the Combine files button on Acrobat opening up Adobe Web?

Hello!! I am trying to combine my open PDFs into one file. On one computer I have the option to "combine open files" but on another computer I am logged into when I click combine files it opens acrobat web and will not combine within my desktop version. Please help me figure out how to bypass or turn off the acrobat web so I can combine within the desktop app?

Hi @saree_mcsatx

Thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the troubled experience.

Please share the following details:

  1. Acrobat version installed:   https://adobe.ly/3PQQ7nE
  2. OS name and version.
  3. Screen recording showing the problem.

I assume Acrobat may not have been fully upgraded to Acrobat. Please check more about unified installer: https://adobe.ly/40UDcqW

Thanks for the information and the video, @saree_mcsatx
And sorry for the delayed response.

Based on a quick look at the video, it appears Reader was upgraded to Acrobat. We now have a single installer(unified installer) for both Acrobat and Reader. When the user logs into the app, it detects whether the Adobe ID has an active subscription. If it does, the app will upgrade to Acrobat automatically. For more information on unified installer: https://adobe.ly/4g6f2Qr

So we can try the following:

1. Uninstall Acrobat using the cleaner tool: https://adobe.ly/4fWWkuC

2. Download Acrobat: https://adobe.ly/4oVr6b7

3. Reinstall and let us know how it works.

Once the installation is done, check for any pending updates, Menu > Help > Check for Updates.

If the issue reappears, let us know, and we will escalate this to the product engineering team.
