This is a feature modification request, I suppose. I often us the commenting tools and love some of the features, however the interface has always been wonderful in some aspects, and irritating in others. Some of the features that relate to the commenting popups can only be found in the preferences tab - not the first place you'd look - and then they tend to be universal changes. I'd like to see all the commenting options accessible from the commenting toolbar, for a start.
Most of all, though, I'd really like to have a quick switch that determines whether you want a comment to pop up or not when you hover over it. I tend to mark a lot of students' work digitally now in LOTE (Languages Other Than English) and use a variety of custom stamps and annotations since the text recognition won't acknowledge handwritten asian text. In particular, I use ticks and crosses. There are many of these. It is visually distracting to have commenting pop-ups each time your cursor hovers over a tick or cross where there are no specific comments attached. Can we have some kind of feature that allows specific stamps to require comments or not, or could we have a switch, or generic selection tool, that can allow us to turn a comment's, or a range of comments' pop-up properties on and off?
