acrobat 6 has error loading html2pdf.api and PPKLite.api

The capabilities of Acrobat 6 meet my needs, so I haven't seen a need to purchase newer versions.

However, every time I start acrobat 6.0 I am getting the following errors:

  • There was an error while loading the plug-in HTML2PDF.api. The plug-in failed to initialize.
  • There was an error while loading the plug-in PPKLite.api  The plug-in failed to initialize.

I have read the other threads on this issue over several years, and have not seen anyone describe a working solution.

Acrobat 6 is fully updated to 6.06. Running under Windows 7 32 bit.

I have tried Acrobat's "repair" function. It simply displays a dialog that says "Please wait while Windows configures Adobe Acrobat 6.0"  It shows a progress bar for about a minute, and then a dialog appears that says "You must restart your system for the changes made to Adobe Acrobat 6.0.1  Professional to take effect".

After a restart, nothing has changed, and the errors still occur.

I'm trying to use the CTRL-SHIFT-O "Create PDF From Web Page".  This function no longer works, and immediately displays "Error; Nothing Done. Error Code; Unknown Format"   for even the simplest HTML page such as "A very simple webpage"

I'm assuming the HTML2PDF.api is necessary for the PDF from Web Page function, so that's why I'm trying to solve the issue.

How do I fix the HTML2PDF.api plug-in?

Hi ,

Acrobat 6 is a pretty older version and not compatible with Windows 7.

It is an unsupported version.

I am sorry but we could not help you with this.

Sukrit, Appreciate the the fast reply, but your response is totally unhelpful. I purchased software from Adobe and it has previously worked just fine with Windows 7. Now it does not. Because of Windows Update? Adobe Reader interactions? That's what I'm trying to figure out.  I want to solve the problem so I can continue to use the software I purchased.

If anyone else here is willing to discuss solutions and not just dismiss my question, please jump in.
