Acrobat incorrectly thinks scanner device name is "Brother Twain"

When I try to select the newly installed "Brother MFC-9340CDW" Scanner in Acrobat to create a new document from the scanner, "Brother Twain" is listed as a scanner instead of the correct scanner name (Brother MFC-9340).  I am running El Capitan (OSx 10.11.5) and Acrobat 8.3.1  The scanner works well with the Brother Control Center application and when I scan from System Preference -> Printers and Scanners -> Scan.  I don't know of other scanner applications that I have installed.

The problem is that for some reason, Acrobat thinks the scanner is named "Brother Twain" instead of "Brother MFC-9340CDW"

I received the message "can't communicate with scanner" for two continuous days of Problem Determination.  I reinstalled and rebooted again today after I posted my question and everything is now working fine using the scanner name "Brother Twain".  My problem is now resolved and I am a happy camper.  Thanks.

Twain is a type of scanning software used by Acrobat, so it might be perfectly normal. What happens when you try to use it?
