Acrobat Reader 8 Pro -Registration Connection Failure

I have an old version of Acrobat  Reader 8 Professional which i have brought forward to new PC’s several time, -always deactivating the program on the old PC before new installation.

As I’m retired and only use the program for a few special purposes (OCR, splitting pdf’s etc,) as nonpaid work for charity organisations, I have tried to forward my 8 pro version also to my new Windows 10 laptop, and it works, but when i’m asked to register the program I get following messages although both Internet and Javascript is OK.

- INTERNET CONNECTION NOT DETECTED
Retry activating over internet or adjust your internet connection ....

When trying again I receive following message
REGISTRATION CONNECTION FAILURE
X – We are unable to connect to Adobe to register your product
Please make sure you’re connected to internet and have Javascript enabled in your PC

I have tried this several time and a few days ago i finally received the message
“Thank you” We appreciate your taking the time to activate this copy of Adobe Acrobat 8.1.0 professional.”

I was very happy to receive this last message and believed that everything now was OK, but next time I started Adobe 8 pro I received the same old messages to register the product – Conenction failure etc

I was on Chat with Adobe for an hour this morning which solved a problem with the account, due to an old e-mail address, - but they were not able to solve this problem and linked me to this forum.

Anyone who have an idea how to solve this?

Acrobat 8 is a very old version, not compatible with any current OS, including Windows 10, so problems are to be expected.

If you insist on trying to install it, I recommend you get the installer file from here and then try to run it in Compatibility Mode (with Windows XP, for example). That's your best chance of getting it to work: Download Acrobat 8 and Acrobat 9

The real solution is to bite the bullet and purchase the current version of Acrobat, called DC.
