Adobe Acrobat ProX quits when opening a doc after trying DC version, Adobe says they no longer support, so they are no help. Any solutions to getting my old purchased software to work?

I had purchased Adobe Acrobat Pro X and it was working fine, it was all I needed. I was prompted to try DC version and did but can't afford the monthly fees in retirement. Since ProX wasn't working I had to subscribe to get a Doc I needed out but it would have been fine with the old ProX if it had kept working. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is Adobe just forcing me to subscribe? or is there a solution/work around?

you can't have both versions installed.

uninstall all acrobat and reader versions.  tick the option to remove all preferences.

if windows, clean per Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

restart your computer

reinstall acrobat x pro

if you have a problem with x, reset your preferences -   https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1595848?start=0&tstart=0
