Am I free to sell a plugin I made for Acrobat?

Hi,

I'm planning on creating a plugin for Adobe Acrobat, and I'd like to know :

- if I will be free to sell it on my own website,

- if I need to have it validated by Adobe,

- and if I have to pay anything to be allowed to sell this plugin.

Audrey, make sure you understand the difference between Acrobat and Acrobat Reader. Our answer only applied to Acrobat, not Reader.

JR, so far as I know it is impossible for a third party plug-in to be "certified". Did I miss something?

Hm... I understand that Reader is the free version of Acrobat pro and standard. Am I right ?
What would be the differences between making a plugin for Acrobat and making a plugin for Acrobat Reader ?

To make a plug-in for Reader differences

- smaller API eg no editing

- special build process (you still, as a developer, need Acrobat)

- needs a license , price by negotiation but up to $25000 per year for some types

- can only be made if Adobe agree and approve eg they won't allow a plug-in to help users avoid buying Acrobat
