booklet created in InDesign and exported as pdf not printing

I'm trying to print a report - tabloid size paper, folded and stapled. File was created in InDesign CS5. PDF is set as single page.

When I try to print as a booklet, the file shows that it's found the printer and spooling, but the job isn't showing up on the Xerox copier.

I can print other files from the same computer to this copier, so that's not the problem. I tried the Xerox Help Desk, but they couldn't figure it out.

The document has 24 pages... I've tried turning off the facing pages so that they are are single pages.

No matter what I try, the document isn't even showing up on the copier job list.

I'm at the end of my rope! I need to have this to hand out this Sunday.

Are you printing from Acrobat or Reader? Are they up-to-date? What OS are you using? Did you restart your computer and printer?

One work around would be to make a new 24 page InDesign file (facing pages) in the pages panel turn off "allow document pages to shuffle" so you can have all pages as spread pages, then place your single pages into InDesign imposed as printers spreads (24+1, 2+23, 22+3, 4+21, etc. Export as spread pages (Tabloid size) and print.

After a whole lot of tries - different computers, turning off facing pages, recreating file as all single pages, Acrobat, Reader, updating drivers, uninstalling/reinstalling printer, yadda, yadda...  going Old School and doing printers spreads was the only viable solution. Feel like I should be printing them on a mimeograph!
