After searching Web for any help I have come here. Yep, the new guy and stupid as they come despite 15+ years on Acrobat. The new thing I encountered here is inserting my signature and can no longer proceed on.
I use Acrobat Pro 9.0.
I am entering text into fields of provided form. Everything was going fine until....
I inserted my signature and now I cannot enter any more text into any fields?
There is a button I need to select to get back to access fields?
Thanks

Signing the file should be the last step in your editing process of it. Applying a signature can lock a file, to make sure that what you signed is what you see.

Maybe at the end I would suspect but I have not gotten that far.......There are about 4 places signature has to be inserted. Currently I am trying to type Today's Date following The Signature. Cannot enter anymore text.
There are many more Fields below this Signature needing entries.

The location of the fields is irrelevant. A digital signature applies to the entire document as a whole. When you sign it you sign the whole document. You need to change the way you do things. Don't sign the file until you've filled in all of the fields.

Again....There are several places I have to add signature after the appropriate sections of text.
I have to sign and date each section. Think about a job Application.
This is not regarding a "Digital Signature". It is on an almost dumb form to fill out.
Maybe when I am in Adobe and I go to "Tools" and select Signature that initiates the Digital Signature?
That is a digitally verified unique to me signature but I am not trying to do what you think....I THINK.
First I have to sign and date the section regarding education.
Second I have to sign and date section regarding Job History.
Third I have to sign and date section regarding Veteran info.
Fourth I have to sign and date area after all the lingo regarding Back-Ground check.
And so on and so on.
I absolutely loathe going into a forum seeking the simplest of info. Maybe after second page of replies I may be getting close to answer?

Hi Chris,
If you're just trying to add the visual appearance of a signature, but don't want to digitally sign the document, create a stamp. You can stamp away to your heart's content, and you can create a custom stamp with any image - your initials, full signature, whatever.
You'll to change your workflow away from thinking of "signing" the document in the digital sense, because that's apparently not what you want to do. As mentioned before, when you "sign" the document, it is protected from further modification (other than adding another signature).
So stamp, don't sign. Sounds like that's what you're wanting to do.

Thanks MHoffman and try67.
I am familiar with E-Sign within Company correspondence but I am sitting here at home and have no intention of that.
MHoffman has noted probable cause and my error. I thought the sign command in Adobe was just a "Bitmap" image or "Stamp"...Gotcha.
Now, if you guys could advise, how do I un-sign it as I have so much info in it or chalk it up to experience and do it over?
For Bonus...Maybe someone can direct me on how to change my screen name? I would prefer it to not be my entire name, you know.
When registering it assigned some text and #s after my name. It said after I login I can change it. I poked around my profile and saw no place to change it. All these posts display my proper name.
Very frustrating run on this one prior to getting here. Thanks again.

Hi Chris,
I don't think you can unsigned a document. You'll need to start over.
As far as your visible name, all I can see is "christ77902044." I was assuming that was for "Chris T," although it doesn't say so explicitly. I believe we can all see our own name, which is misleading, but is apparently a "feature" of the Jive software that the forums are built upon.
I don't think you can change your display name, but you can control whether your real name is shown by a rather circuitous path:
1. Click the dropdown at the top right of the page next to your avatar;
2. Click "View Profile;"
3. On your profile page, click "Actions" and then "Edit Community Profile;"
4. Go to the Privacy tab, and there you'll find the controls for who can see what.

Re signature: Sure you can. Just right-click it and select Clear Signature.
Re username: The full name is only visible to you. We only see your user name "christ77902044"...

Thank you both for your input and patience.
I made rookie mistake trying to add my signature to a form.
Have decided just to print it and fill it out by hand as so much time already on this. I need to get it turned in today I was told.
I wasn't able to edit my username wither of course. I do not know where I have to be to right click my name to "Clear" it.
Looked around profile again and attempted to get to where mhoffman suggested but no go. I just do not prefer being Christ anything you know.
Oh well, Acrobat is something I used to use more frequently while back, maybe more some other day.
Thanks again,
Chris

You need to right-click the signature itself to be able to clear it.
