I just spent almost $200 to get Adobe Pro because my previous Adobe Acrobat install was NOT working and I couldn't open ANY PDFs.  So now I have tried to install it with Internet Explorer and Chrome and I still get ..

Error 1923. Service Adobe Acrobat Update Service (AdobeARMUpdate) couldn't be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services.

Hi Frankm46898979,

You may please refer to the forums thread Error 1923 installing Adobe Reader XI  where same problem has been addressed for the previous version of acrobat.

Solution-1

> If you are using any antivirus then please turn it off and then try installing the application.

or

>you can try downloading the installer through Download Adobe Acrobat DC (Continuous) for Enterprise or VIP licenses

Solution-2

>If you are still getting the same error then create an Hidden Administrator account and try installing the application there.

hence error 1923 refer to permission issue, so installing the application in hidden admin account should resolve the problem.

Steps to create hidden Admin-

  1. Click Start icon, type cmd in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.

Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.
  2. In the search results list, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as Administrator.
  3. When you are prompted by User Account Control, click Continue.
  4. At the command prompt, type net user administrator /active:yes, and then press Enter.
  5. Type net user administrator <Password>, and then press Enter.

Note In this command, <Password> represents the actual password that you want to set for the administrator account.
  6. Type exit, and then press Enter.
  7. Log off the current user account.

Hope this would help.

Regards,

Akanchha
