freezing in "preparing files" mode

When trying to re-download Acrobat XI, it freezes in "preparing files" mode.  A whole lot of story prior to this issue...updating AVG, deciding I didn't want that "upgrade",  so I uninstalled it but it crashed half-way through the uninstall taking my Office 2013 with it!  Spent 1.5 hours online with Micfrosoft as they built it back and reinstalled my Office.  Now, my Acrobat doesn't work!  "A problem has occurred with the licensing of this product.  Restart your computer and re-launch the product"  Error code 213:11.  I have been through every "fix" to no avail!  I am at my wits ends!  EVERYTHING seems to be screwed up because of my stupid error of trying to uninstall an upgrade from AVG!!!  I have tried restoring to an earlier time..nope!  I have tried download the licensure fix...nope!  I have tried reinstalling my Adobe...nope!!  I am going to lose my mind!    Win 7, Office 2013, Adobe XI...

Thanks for any advice!

If it was me, I would DE-activate everything... format my hard drive... and do a fresh install of everything

Also, I have found that a Windows restore point is (as you have found) not always the solution

The product I use is at http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/image-for-linux.htm

Image runs off of a bootable CD via Linux (the Zip you download includes a program to make the bootable CD) and it reads EVERYTHING on the drive, even the hidden registration information, so everything is restored when needed... and you may not only restore the image over a messed up install, you may restore to a brand new drive in case of a hardware crash, and not have to re-install anything (it DOES have to be an identical drive)
