How stop "Registration" pop-up AA8.1?

(Not sure if this is the precise place to post this, but it came closest; if it should be redirected just let me know.)

Have had Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro (now 8.1) for years, working perfectly on XP, Vista & Windows 7, getting no pop-ups. Installed Windows 10 and now get "Registration-Connection Failure"  pop-up each time i launch, even though I've checked the "Never Register" button, and even though my internet is working great. AA 8.1 functions smoothly in all other respects, but this is a real irritating nuisance. Tried reinstalling AA8--didn't help. Tried some RegEdit changes mentioned on a few other web forums and in Adobe's own Troubleshooting Guide for AA9 (I couldn't find one for AA8), but the Registry tree categories in W10 didn't exactly match what the advisors' solutions suggested, so that didn't work. Tried getting program to Run As Administrator, but lost some functionality of AA8 that way. Any suggestions?

Actually did 2 things to get the answer:  (1) reverted back to Windows 7,  and (2) found suggestion to disable UAC on an Adobe Photoshop forum. i really wanted to hang with W10 despite this Adobe Registration problem, but the hits just kept on comin' with that OS, the deal-breaker being that my old dependable Word 2003 crashed each time i tried to paste any web content, especially graphics, into it. So I took MS up on its 30-day "return" policy for W10 and had them reinstall W7, with which i had never experienced the infuriating and repeated pop-up Adobe Registration aggravation. Well...not so fast: there it was with my W7 re-install just like with W10! Tried the "Run As Admin" trick again: no go. But then located all the UACs (tip o' the hat here to Mythicsoft's fabulous free Agent Ransack search program--fantastic!) on my drive and disabled them. Now, fingers crossed, no more annoying Adobe Registration reminders. Final point: maybe Acrobat 8 Pro is supposed to be incompatible with W10, but It's running smooth as silk on a formerly W8 laptop that's doing fine with W10. To boot, the MS Word (full disclosure: it's the 2010 version on that machine) happily welcomes Pastes from the web, graphics included. Thanks to Adobe Forums posters.

Acrobat 8 is not compatible with Windows 10, which might explain the difficulties you're encountering.

The only real solution is to upgrade to the current version, Acrobat DC.
