How to install Acrobat Pro DC (perpetual license) Upgrade from Acrobat Standard DC (perpetual license)?
In May 2016 I purchased and installed Acrobat Standard DC (perpetual license, v. 2015.006.30201) as a download from Dell Digital Delivery, running on Windows 10. At that time I wasn’t certain that I’d need Acrobat Pro DC, but, as a precaution, I verified with Ivan in Adobe sales on 5/13/16 that Acrobat Pro DC Upgrade (perpetual license) would upgrade Acrobat Standard DC (perpetual license).
In late August I purchased Acrobat Pro DC Upgrade (perpetual license) as a DVD package (Part No. 65259139). Upon receipt of the package, I noted that the upgrade label stated that it would install only for licensed users of Acrobat Standard or Pro (version X.x or XI.x). Before opening the package, on 8/31/16 I again verified with Kelly (x 9036) and his supervisor in the Adobe product sales support area that the aforementioned Part No. 65259139 will recognize and upgrade Acrobat Standard DC (perpetual license) to Acrobat Pro DC (perpetual license).
Two days ago I opened the package and attempted to install the upgrade, without success. The Installer opens in the Adobe Acrobat DC (Classic) Setup mode—with no reference to Acrobat Pro DC—and it offers only the following Program Maintenance options: Modify, Repair, or Remove. The Modify option runs but leaves the existing Acrobat Standard DC (perpetual license) unchanged. The Repair option requires the insertion of the Acrobat Standard DC (perpetual license) installation disk. I have the 24-digit serial number but no disk, since Acrobat Standard DC (perpetual license) was downloaded. I have not tried the Remove option, because there is no indication that the program will then install Acrobat Pro DC (perpetual license).
I’d appreciate hearing from Adobe technical support or from a customer who has successfully upgraded from Acrobat Standard DC (perpetual license) to Acrobat Pro DC (perpetual license) with the aforementioned upgrade package.
