Does anyone know how to get adobe pdf to show up as a printer option when you want to print from another software to adobe pdf to make a pdf file?

The Adobe PDF printer is automatically installed with Acrobat on Windows.
Try "Repair Installation" under Help menu. If that not works, try uninstalling using cleaner tool Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs ‌and restart your system.
Then install application again.
If you are on Mac, there's no Adobe PDF printer for Mac.On Mac on the print dialog box you can select save as Adobe PDF.
