I do not have the compare documents tool

Explorer ,
Jun 10, 2016 Jun 10, 2016

Hi,

I went to the help pages to see how to access the "compare documents" tool. It says to select Tools->Compare. However, my tools menu does not have that tool. On the help page there was a screenshot of the Tools screen (with all the tools icons). There were far more tools pictured there than what I have in my tools menu, including the Compare files tool. I don't understand why I don't have all the tools for Acrobat DC STD (2015)

Thanks,

Joyce

PS - I am posting this to "Creating PDFs" simply because none of the choices had anything to do with my question, so I just picked the first one on the list. If someone can direct me to the appropriate sub group, I will move this post to that group.

Hi.

I don't have all the tools for Acrobat DC STD

"Compare documents" is not available in Acrobat Standard, it requires Acrobat Pro.

Why isn't that version requirement mentioned on the page explaining how to use the compare tool?

Compare two versions of a PDF file in Adobe Acrobat.

It's only available in the Pro version of the application (see the title of that link).

DC is like a release number (after 9,X,XI). You still need to know the difference between Standard and Pro subscriptions.

I don't know, but it's mentionned here: Plans and pricing: Compare plans | Adobe Acrobat DC

Regarding your needs you may be happy to use this "small" comparaison tool: The Permanent Identifier which is part of my free abracadabraTools :

Hi Charu.

I joined the Acrobat pre-release program 10 years ago, for the Acrobat 8 pre-release.

Mmmm…

Some bugs reported during Acrobat 8, Acrobat 9, Acrobat X and Acrobat XI pre-release are not yet fixed in DC.

Sometimes it's discouraging.

Hi,

We have significantly improved Compare functionality in our new release of Adobe Acrobat DC. Please update to the latest version to give it a try. The new Compare Files Tool offers a Side-by-Side view which provides a better experience in identifying differences and a modern UI.

Latest version for Adobe Acrobat DC build number: 2015.020.20039 (Continuous).

For more info about the new Compare tool, visit: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/compare-documents.html as well.
