I have wasted almost a day of work trying to get this application activated. I recently purchased a copy of Acrobat XI Pro, and installed the program. I entered the Serial Number in the beginning of the process, as it is labeled on the box the installation CD was in. I assumed the installation was successful, until I opened the application and was prompted to again provide my serial number. I entered it again, and received a message the serial number was invalid, and that I was not connected to the internet. I found that hard to believe, because I was on the internet. I followed the prompts to get a machine-code request, which took me to an Adobe web site. I copied and pasted the machine code and entered my serial number again to get a response code. Only to be told, the serial number is invalid.
I have installed and uninstalled XI numerous times, followed numerous steps found in several posts in this forum, repaired installations. All to no avail. I am attempting to install XI on a new Desktop with Windows 10. I have a full version install, not an upgrade version.

Really? After spending hours and hours trying to get my install and validation, reading numerous other posts, do you really think I didn't do this already? I have run it several times, and I'm still having the same issue. This must be a standard response.
Tell me something that is useful. Something that will get my software validated. Give a phone number so I can speak to a real person that can provide some guidance.
If that is the answer, perhaps you should reinvestigate your solution.

I wonder if you have been sold a fake. Adobe stopped selling Acrobat XI almost a year ago, when Acrobat DC was released. If you have purchased it recently, especially if it seems heavily discounted, that may be behind your problems. There are many very convincing fakes, boxes, holograms and all.

I've had a similar experience installing XI Pro and getting an invalid serial number message but nothing about not being connected to the internet. I just installed the program today from a DVD obtained from a reseller. The programs opens and runs but I've received messages about activating the product but it seems to want to activate Pro DC. One option is to put in a serial number, the other is to skip and continue the trial. I know I'm connected to the internet and I was able to verify that I could connect to the Adobe Activation Server. I read that if you are connected to the internet when you install the product, the activation is automatic. My question is how can I tell if the product is activated?

Pretty much how it went with me. If you purchased your copy from a reseller, and cannot get you product activated, I would recommend you find a way to the chat line and find out if the serial number is valid. I finally made it to the chat line, and found out my serial number had been cancelled. And, once cancelled it cannot be reactivated. I was sold a bunch of goods and taken to lunch. I have since purchased an annual subscription to DC Pro, downloaded DC Pro and Creative Cloud. Things are much nicer now at work.
I hope this helps.

I'm afraid that I've been taken in by a counterfeit. I'm more annoyed with Adobe however for their over-priced products and bad customer support. The fact that getting to a chat line is so difficult for a product that costs hundreds of dollars is really the height of contempt for the "users". I'm no great Microsoft apologist, but consider that for $99 a year you can get Office 365, which includes Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Visio, Publisher and One Note; a suite of programs that is essential to any modern business operation, and compare that to Acrobat DC which is only one tool which for many offices is not essential for $180 a year, leaves me to conclude that I can do without Adobe products and try one of the other PDF editors.
