Installing Adobe Acrobat XI Pro on Windows 10 PC - Patch Problem

Hi,

A quick check of my Adobe account reveals that I purchased Abobe Acrobat IX (9) Pro in 2010 and then either purchased or upgraded to XI (11) Pro in 2013.  These were installed on a PC running Windows 7.  I have recently purchased a PC running Windows 10 / 64 bit and want to reinstall XI Pro.  I have done a fresh download of the XI Pro installer.  However, when I tried to install it I get an error message saying "This patch package could not be opened.  Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."  Can anyone assist me in resolving this?  A couple of points to note:

  • I am unsure whether the XI (11) Pro in 2013 was a completely new software package or just an upgrade of the IX (9) Pro software.  If the latter, would I have to install IX (9) Pro first?
  • I am currently using the Microsoft Edge browser that came with the PC running Windows 10.  I am not sure whether this meets system requirements for the installation of XI (11) Pro at https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/system-requirements-acrobat-family-products.html.

Thanks

Regrettably, this did not work.  I opted to purchase a subscription to Adobe Acrobat Pro DC which installed without any problems and appears to be functioning correctly.

An idea that MAY work to install and/or run old programs in Windows 10... works for some, not for others

-or Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 to assign FULL permissions may help... says Encore, but sometimes required for ALL Adobe programs (this is NOT the same as using an Administrator account)

Along with that , try scanning for registry once using Registry cleaning applications anyone like CCleaner or any other brand.

Also , if you had installed any Acrobat version earlier , you may try running Acrobat Cleaner tool.
