Please Help - cannot install Acrobat DC

Hello,

I had the Adobe CS5 creative suite and recently upgraded to the current CC2015 versions of everything....except Acrobat DC. I cannot install Acrobat DC. I see a notification from the Adobe Creative Cloud that an update and available and a button to click to install, but when I do I get a notification that "Acrobat DC cannot be installed. To update to Acrobat DC uninstall the existing version of Acrobat."

I do not have any version of Acrobat currently on my system, I trashed it before I tried to install the new versions of all software. (I am on a Mac)

Does anyone know what I need to do to completely clear off any old version of Acrobat to make way for the newest version?
