Trying to download Adobe Acrobat X installer but get an error.

I've tried downloading to 2 different drives and in each mode ["skip files" "overwrite files" etc] and nothing works. I also have the original installation DVD from 2011 but that won't accept the original serial number so the Adobe chat person said to download the installer. I've got desktop running Windows 7 Home Editiion
