When I try to print or save a download/email attachment I get "not responding"

When a computer or web download/attachment comes up in Adobe Acrobat XI I get "not responding" when I try to save it or print. It just spins and spins and finally I get a choice between closing the program or waiting. Why does this happen? I am told there are not further updates to my program, Adobe Acrobat Pro XI

Hi,

Are you experiencing this issue only with PDF files?

Please open Acrobat, navigate to Help menu & repair the installation. Also check for the updates, make sure it is updated to the latest version.

Also, verify the compatibility with the OS Adobe Acrobat system requirements

Regards,
Aadesh

When I bring up Acrobat and try to go to the help menu (or File, edit , view....) the screen turns white. The cursor "spins". When I raise the curser above, to the title of the document, it remains an arrow and stops spinning. Previously, I checked the help menu and at the bottom I clicked "check for upgrades" and it said I was up to date. It is very unpredictable and inconsistent. Sometimes it will print and allow me to work and sometimes not. There are some "fatal errors" as well. I am not having any other problems on my computer. Word is working fine.

LATEST

still me... Anne...The latest pop up said "Acrobat failed to connect to a  DDE Server". What does that even mean? So confused and frustrated.
