Question

When printing pages smaller than my printer's page size, Acrobat won't center the page. It forces the page to the upper left corner, partially past the non printable area. How do I fix this?

Whenever I try print a page that is smaller than the letter or tabloid page set in one of my printers, Acrobat DC forces the page all the way to the upper left corner. I cannot center the smaller page on the printed page like I can with Indesign, Photoshop or Illustrator. It goes to the page edge rather than the printable area edge, so parts of the image do not print. See below screenshot from the print preview window. DC has NO feature that I can see to set the page alignment. As a test, we created some VERY simple filled rectangles a 5 x 7 document within both Illustrator and Indesign. I tried to print them within Acrobat DC, the same off center issue occurred. We then tried to print the same documents within older versions of Acrobat and ALL of the older versions had no issue. They were all able to center the document automatically. So this seems to be an exclusive issue of Pro DC.

Hi dwspiv ,

Could you please tell if this is happening with this file only or with all of them?

Are you getting Print window where you can choose options between Fit or Actual Size ?

Thank You!

This happens with ANY pdf file that is smaller than the designated page size in the print dialog.

In other words, If I have letter size paper chosen for any of my printers, and I try to print a PDF of a document that was set up to 5x7, then Acrobat shoves the page into the upper left corner, disregarding the printers non-printing margin (usually 1/4 inch) and thus cutting off my print. There is no way to center the document from within Acrobat.

Fit to page is available (as is "actual size"), but that enlarges the document, not fit for proofing anything at actual size.

The Adobe rep suggested I print with 5x7 paper then. But the printer will still suffer with a non-printable margin and cut off my document. This is not acceptable. I tested the same PDF using older versions of Acrobat. The problem does not exist. It automatically centers the smaller document on the printer page. This is an Acrobat Pro DC issue.

If I select Tabloid or Tabloid Extra, available page sizes on one of my printers, the same thing happens. It shoves the item to the upper left just like pictured above. I have tried several simple documents, so it's not any particular document causing the problem.

And I created the PDF documents in Indesign and Illustrator. So it's not the creation tool.
