Windows 10 - Adobe Acrobat 9 standard opens but freezes (not responding)

I have been using Adobe Acrobat 9 standard (licensed) for several years on this same computer for 3 years and all of a sudden within the last two weeks every time I open a pdf it will open but will freeze with a few seconds.

I have tried the AdobeCleaner, I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I have tried the repair function in "programs", and everything I have found on the forums and Google...all to no success! Adobe Reader works fine...but Acrobat 9 does not...what other information would be helpful?

I REALLY need to get this working WITHOUT having to buy the most current software.

The Acrobat 9 product family passed into "End-of-Support" back in 2013. The "9" family is not compatible with Windows 10.
