Word links lost with Acrobat XI

I have had Acrobat XI for quite some time. It used to be that it would automatically process links in Word files during the conversion process. It no longer does. Can anyone provide insight into why this is?

Acrobat XI is not compatible with Office 2016. Only Acrobat DC is.

How are you converting the Word files to PDF?

Thank you for your questions. I have Office 2016 for Windows. However, the file I am converting is saved in Word 97-2003. I have tried to convert from Acrobat's "Create" function, as well as by printing to Acrobat from Word.

Acrobat XI is not compatible with Office 2016. Only Acrobat DC is.
