PDF Embedded API And Protected Documents

Is there an explanation as to 'why' the embedded api is not allowed to edit a 'protected' document?

These forms of documents can have the ability to be editted using a normal Acrobat session, and it seems to be very strange that we are unable to edit a protected document within the API viewer. Filling in a field seems like a rather strange thing to lock out.

Is there an enhamcement request in place to request this feature?

DC

Just to clarify, the PDF documents are 'protected' but 'allow form filling' is enabled.

It appears like API doesn't quite map the security requirements and is preventing editting when the security confguration allows it.

Can you share the PDF in question? There might be two things going on, one is the protection but the fields themselves might contain scripts that Embed API doesn't support.

This is a standard government form, which is 'protected' and set with form filling enabled.

All forms with the protected attribute set seem to behave the same way. Essentially the form filling capabilites is disabled. I understand not being able to manilpulate the form structure, etc., but basic filling should not be blocked as it tends to make the API very limited to showing a PDF or having to provide your own forms.
