Adobe Acrobat issues with the Outlook tool

Community Beginner ,
Dec 16, 2020 Dec 16, 2020

I am trying to convert some emails in Outlook to PDF, but the PDF creation tool and Outlook froze so I can't convert no files at all.

A kind Adobe technician today has tried to repair Acrobat from the programs and features applet in Windows 10, then he used the Acrobat DC clean tool and it reinstalled Acrobat.

Just the first time I was able to convert two email in PDF, but then the next time nothing, I can't convert emails in PDF anymore.

I find really upsetting this issue, because Acrobat is a very expensive program and one expects it to work; instead, some other cheap alternatives to Acrobat work without no problems at all.

Hi Nicos,

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described the application is freezing on creating PDFs from outlook.

- What are the steps you are doing to create PDF from Outlook?

- Is this a behavior only when creating PDF from Outlook or with other applications as well (MS Word, Excel)? Please try creating PDF with different application and check

If you are on a company network, please try to switch to a different network (Mobile, hotspot, wifi) and check if that helps.

As mentioned, repairing the installation worked for sometime, please try to reset the preferences to default as described in the help page https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792...

If it still doesn't work, please try to turn off the protected mode for testing (Windows Only) go to Edit . Preferences > Enhanced Security > Uncheck 'Enable Protected mode at startup' Turn off the protected mode and uncheck enhanced security > Click OK and Reboot the computer.
Note: Please turn on the security after testing to avoid security risks.

If it still doesn't work, please create a new test user profile in Windows with full admin rights and try using the application there and check.

You may also look at the steps provided in the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-system-errors-freezes-windows.html

Regards

Amal

Hi Amal,

I am simply trying to save some email from Outlook in PDF for archiving.

I followed your steps and the issue persists, but I noticed that Acrobat hangs on a specific email with a specific content.

Why this happens? What could be the problem?

Thanks.

Hi there

We are sorry to hear that. As the application hangs with a specific email with specific content, there isn't much that we can do, please try with a different email and see if that works fine.

Also please check for any missing update for outlook and try repairing it and see if that helps.

Thanks

Amal

Hi Amal,

I tried everything possible, but nothing, I can't save some emails in PDF, but I don't understand why a less-costly alternative as Acrobat convert those emails without any issue.

There is a problem somewhere that causes this.

@Amal. If I send a sample of that email (it's a newsletter email, so doesn't contain sensible data) could you do some testing on your side?

Thanks

Quit Acrobat or Reader if it's already running.

Download the zip file (https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/outlook-acrobat-reader-freeze-crash.html)

Unzip or extract the downloaded file to the desktop. Right-click the file (Adobe.reg) and choose Merge.
