Is there any way to expedite scoping for row/column headers?

I have a document that is 200+ pages with mostly tables.  The tables are tagged as tables, but the scoping is not applied to the appropriate row/column headers.  Is there a way to expedite or automate this or will I have to go into Table Editor for each table and mark the header cells as appropriate?

See table regularity tips at a related discussion question. I have been able to make every table pass regularity in Acrobat's Accessibility Checker, but since PDF Accessibility Checker is free and much better at finding and visually locating issues, use that. If it passes PAC2 it should pass Acrobat's lesser check.

I work with tables all the time, too. I have yet to find anything that automates most of the remedial tasks when it comes to tagging for 508 accessibility. It's a defeated feeling. Acrobat is nothing like Word where you can create a macro for most anything to save on the repetitive mousing, hand work in general. I feel your disappointment. If you ever find an answer, post it here so the rest of us who suffer through this insanely-time-consuming-underappreciated table and tagging work can know too. Thanks so much.

    Acrobat is not (never has been) an "authoring application".

    So, of course it is not "like" any authoring application.

    When mastering content (or performing update edits) always use an appropriate authoring application that works with Acrobat Pro's PDF Maker or other integrated routines such that "in the ring" Tagged PDF is produced.  This will reduce the extent of the requisite post processing of the structure tree needed to obtain the ISO 14289, PDF/UA compliant PDF. (If it ain't PDF/UA compliant it ain't accessible PDF eh).

    What format is the source document, are the tables simple, regular, and correctly configured in the source document, and how is the source document converted to PDF? For example, in a Word document, if my table is simple/regular (same number of columns in each row and vice versa), and the header row is set in Word, and I convert to PDF using the PDF Maker plugin, I get good results. Another thing to try is retagging the document in Acrobat Pro. Sometimes that gives good results, other times not so much.
