I've just subscribed to Acrobat PDF Export in order to convert pdf files back to Word. Where is the icon for my desktop. I don't seem to have the program to do so?

Hi John,

You need to sign up at "https://cloud.acrobat.com/exportpdf" with your Adobe ID and password.

Then, you can upload PDF files and export them to Word.

Once completed, you can then download them on your system.

Regards,

Anubha

Hello Anubha,

Is it really necessary to access the program by clicking on the URL each time? Why can’t I have an icon on my desktop and simply click on it?

Thanks,

John

Hey John,

As Adobe ExportPDF is a web-based service on Acrobat.com, so there is no desktop shortcut for the same.

In addition to signing up at "https://cloud.acrobat.com/exportpdf"‌, you might also use 'Adobe Reader' to convert PDF files to other format from the Tools pane.

Hello Anubha,

I’m disappointed in the program because when I open a pdf to make changes the font has changed and the corrections appear different from the original. What’s happening here?

Thanks,

John

Hey,

Please let me know whether you are using acrobat.com service or Adobe Reader to convert the PDF.

You might need to check whether this happens with all PDFs or any specific one?

Do you find the changes in font after converting the file to word format?

If yes, open Word document and go to File> Print and choose Adobe PDF.

Now, click on Printer Properties and in the default settings select 'PDF/X-1a: 2001 to ensure embedding of all fonts in the doc.

Please check and let me know.

Regards,

Anubha

Hello Anubha: There’s definitely something amiss with the program. I did as you suggested but there is nothing that says PDF/x-1a:2001. However via Cute pdf writer the document was converted back to Word but the format of the document is completely changed? What’s up?

Dear John,

Could you please elaborate whether you are facing this font change problem after converting to Word or within the PDF only.

If possible, please share the file with me (Contact ID sent via private message) so that I can check at my end.

Is this a document specific issue? Please let me know.

Regards,

Anubha

Good Morning Anubha,

Here is the document I’m trying to revert to Word. But each time the font and format is altered to such a degree I can’t use it.

Thanks,

John

A very good morning John,

As far as I have understood, there is no problem with ExportPDF. You might need to check whether the fonts in your PDF are embedded or not.

For this, open the PDF in Reader/Acrobat and go into File>Properties and click on Fonts tab to check for the same.

If the fonts used in the PDF are not present in the system, then MS Word may not be able to retain the layout of the file.

Please check.

Regards,

Anubha

Hello Anubha,

You are absolutely correct. The Adobe Acrobat doesn’t have the original font. It has a dozen or so but not the one I use for the document. Is there any way of getting around this or am I forced to use only the fonts that are included?

Thanks for input. I may wish to cancel the account because I’m not happy with the fonts that are presently on Acrobat.

Regards,

John

Hey,

If you have Acrobat installed on your system, then you might embed fonts using the 'Preflight' tool.

Otherwise, the problem with fonts will persist after converting that file to Word.

Anubha
