Hi Kevinw,

Sorry for the delay in response.

As you get the garbled text in the Word document when you export PDF, it seems to be the font issue.

Please try once to copy and paste the text from PDF in Word document.

If you still get the garbled text, it means that the system does not have that font available.

In this case, you may try recreating the PDF from Adobe PDF maker.

If it is a scanned PDF, try to run OCR.

Also, check the document properties.

Open PDF and go to File > Properties.

It would be helpful if you can share the document, so we can check it on our end and provide you the information accordingly.

You can share it either here in the forum reply or in a private message.

To initiate a private message, refer to the steps provided here: How Do I Send Private Message

You can share the file using the steps provided here How to share a file using Adobe Document Cloud

Hope that information helps.

Let us know if you need any help.

My PDF is made up of scanned images which have text in them  (Scanned documents).  I merely want the image.  The Fonts are not necessary to convert.  I don't want to modify any of it.  I just want the scanned documents as images.

Hey Collin!

Thank you for reaching out.

We did check your Adobe account using the email address used to sign in here in the community. You are subscribed to the Adobe Acrobat Export PDF service.

As you are converting the scanned PDF to a Word file using the Adobe Export PDF feature, the text will automatically be converted into editable text. There is nothing much that can be done in this case.

If you wish to get scanned documents as images, you may convert them to image format. However, the option to convert to an image format is not available with the Adobe Acrobat Export PDF service. You will either need the Adobe PDF Pack service or the Acrobat subscription (https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/exporting-pdfs-file-formats.html#convert_pdfs_to_word_rtf_spre...).

Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Meenakshi
