When converting scanned pdf to word no symbols in the document are reproduced & there are lots of them

as per heading above, the symbols are those representing playing card suits, clubs, diamonds, hearts & spades

not sure what is going on here, i just received an email from  Adobe Forums <forums_noreply@adobe.com>

It was in German I think despite my question being extremely clearly written in ENGLISH I do not speak or read a language other than English
