Problem signing using an image from my device

I'm receiving links in email asking me to sign documents. These come from User Name via Adobe Acrobat Sign <adobesign@adobesign.com>. That's all fine. When I open the link (Firefox or Chrome) I get the document and I see the click here to sign. But when I choose to sign with an image from my computer and I select one through the file selection dialog I always get a further unspecified error to try another (or is it different, I forgot) image. I've tried all kinds of file formats (TIFF, PDF, PNG, SVG). Always just that short message, that does not really give any clue as to what exactly went wrong. I'm extremely dissatisfied with this.

Hi marko_5597,
Thank you for reaching out.
Please try the following formats to add images of the signature: PNG, JPG, GIF, and BMP. The image size should be 60 pixels tall and up to 600 pixels wide maximum. For more information, refer to the following help document: https://adobe.ly/3Eh1XVG.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

Dear Meenakshi,
thanks for your response. I have now actually been able to create a signature that was accepted. The issue was that the width of my image was larger than what's allowed.
However, I still have some points that I think Adobe would want to improve:
- the error message gives no hint what the specific problem is and how it might be resolved
- given Adobe's area of business the lack of support for PDF seems ironic
- again, given Adobe's area of business, is it too much to ask to have an image scaled?
I've had to use many other esign service before and I have never run into this amount of difficulty.
Thank you again, Meenakshi, for your help.
Best regards,
Marko
