Today, the approver and signer permissions are pulled from the same check box in the user account setup (ability to sign documents). Our organization has the need to separate these permissions, where certain users can approve, but don't have the ability to actually execute. Ideally, this would be split out into two fields to manage the permissions separately.

I think that makes a lot of sense, though it's not something we do today. I've logged this as a feature request.
