Hey-ho Marc,
As soon as i saw there was a new aero update (0.16.10), i had to test one feature that i saw in the newly added tutorial.
(this one)
https://helpx.adobe.com/aero/how-to/share-augmented-reality-experiences-aero.html?playlist=/services...
As this tutorial states at 02:23 that the share-feature allows anyone to view the experience without an aero app. Everything went as expected, however - anyone who got my link received the usual landing page that tells the user to open the experience with the aero app.
I tried the link with two iphones (a new and older one) and an android model.
These devices had no aero installed, which is the goal - to make the experiences more shareable to the public.
There is the possibility that the feature hasnt rolled out yet, and the mentioned tutorial is a sneak peek what is yet to come. However, i would be glad if there is something i should be aware of the feature to use it properly or if (or when) we can estimate to be able to go public with our ar-related work. 🙂
Thanks in advance and have a nice day!

Hi Elisabeths52903373
Thanks for your interest in Aero’s newest features - lots to share in the coming weeks! We’ll be launching these very soon but if you want to try them out ahead of the public release you can join our Prerelease program.
Happy creating!

Doesn't work! CLick on QR code and asked to download App. Open the link too. Very disappointing indeed. Did it ever work?

This is one of the biggest hurdles in front of Aero right now, device compatibility. The ability to open an Aero AR experience without needing an app, (App clips) is only available for certain newer iphone models, with newer operating systems installed. My understanding is that android support for android's version of app clips through Aero was virtually non-existent.
The part I struggle with is that occasionally an iphone that seems like it would have no problem will throw a "must download the app" message, and it's tough to troubleshoot why that is happening.
It's safe to say that this will get better with time, and app-less AR experiences will become the norm. But remember, Aero is in beta. At least as far as I'm concerned, that means it's a fun toy that Adobe wants us to play with. It is not ready for real-world widespread use.
