Question

Berthold fonts unavailable?

I have typed "Akzidenz Grotesk" into the find font field in CC and it pulls up an article about how Berthold and Adobe have joined forces. Yet Berthold's most famous font--Akzidenz Grotesk--is unavailable???? What's up with that please?

Hi there,

Sorry for the confusion on how this works! This is the blog post mentioned, for reference:

https://blog.typekit.com/2013/06/06/berthold-types-partners-with-typekit/

Akzidenz-Grotesk doesn't come up in a search on the Adobe Fonts website because it's not part of the subscription library. The partnership with Berthold allows you to purchase any web font licenses you need from their website and then use Adobe Fonts for the web font hosting.

Here is some more information and a list of the other foundry partners who offer this option:

https://helpx.adobe.com/fonts/using/add-font-licenses.html#byol

In short, after you license Akzidenz-Grotesk from https://www.bertholdwebfonts.com/berthold-fonts/akzidenz-grotesk, you get a link to add the fonts to your Adobe account.  Then you can create a web project that includes Akzidenz-Grotesk and add it to your website.

I hope that this helps; let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks so much for clarifying.

I continue to find Adobe Fonts library exceedingly less than stellar. It is among the worst offerings Adobe (or anyone) has for fonts.
