Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing a strange issue with the font Pill Gothic on a WordPress website. The font is embedded using Adobe Fonts, and I’ve tested two different integration methods:
– via the Adobe Fonts plugin
– and via Elementor’s built-in Adobe Fonts integration.
The font loads and displays correctly on:
•Apple devices (iOS and macOS)
•Most desktop browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari)
•Android devices using Firefox or Samsung Internet
However, on Google Chrome on Android smartphones, the German umlauts (ä, ö, ü, ß) are not displayed. They appear as invisible/blank spaces within the text. The rest of the characters render as expected.
I’ve already:
•Tried different font weights and styles (e.g. Regular, Medium, Bold)
•Ensured the project settings in Adobe Fonts include full character support
•Added proper font fallbacks in CSS
•Cleared all caches
Still, the issue persists only in Chrome on Android.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Could this be a Chrome-specific rendering bug, or is there something missing in the font file Adobe serves?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance 🙏
