24 hours of encoding in Media Encoder for a 2-hour sequence?

Good evening,

I edited a sequence with Premiere Pro CC 2017 with an input file in 4K of 2 hours (3,5 Go), in a sequence in resolution 1280x720 (for Vimeo): the export to H264 format in minimum and maximum speed 5, in VBR 2 passes is announced by Media Encoder to last 24 hours. Having to provide my video before this deadline, I cut my 2h sequence to make 2 sequences of 1h and Media Encoder 2017 now announces me 16h per sequence to export!

Have you ever encountered this kind of export delay (for me, this is the first time I've such a delay) or can you tell me what I could do to reduce the export time?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Bonsoir,

Please tell us what computer hardware you are using, as that can be a factor. Also, what effects or filters might be applied to the video that can slow things down? Like Red Giant, Lumetri, Denoising, etc.

The typical fix for slow exports is to get a faster computer unfortunately, but sometimes there are easy fixes in the workflow that can expedite the exports.

Thank you

Jeff

Hi,

I use a computer with processor Intel Core i7-6700K  CPU 4Ghz, 16 Go Ram, graphic card Nvidia Geforce GTX1050 Ti.

The only video effect I use is Beauty Box from Digital Anarchy : https://www.digitalanarchy.com/beautyVID/mainAE.html

Beauty Box : Skin Retouching Video Plugins for After Effects & Final Cut Pro :: Digital Anarchy

I don't use any filters.

After a friend of mine said that using CBR instead of VBR in encoding would reduce the time, I've tried : I've exported my file in 6 jours instead of 36 !

As a test, put 1 minute of your clip on timeline, no effects, and export. Time it. Now add Beauty effect and export again. Compare export times. I have not used that plug-in, but some add a lot more time than others. This quick test will give you an idea how much overhead the Beauty effect is adding to the export time.

Thanks

Jeff
