Exports for 10-bit 4:2:0 HDR footage are now up to 10x faster on Windows systems with Intel or NVIDIA GPUs, thanks to new hardware encoding.

To update the app, open the Creative Cloud desktop application and click the Updates tab on the top left. Find Media Encoder in the list and click Update.

I have installed the new version of Adobe Media Encoder, version 22.2. I have a Dell desktop (Xeon 6 core) with Windows 10 and a Nvidia Quadro P2000. I have the latest Nvidia driver installed. I can now choose hardware encoding and 10 bit.

When I do the export, the cpu and gpu are lightly used, less than 10 percent and the export takes about 5 times longer then using the software, even with dual pass enabled. A 1hour HD video takes over 10 hours with hardware enabled, and 1 hour using software, 2 pass export. What happend to 10x faster?

Lawrence

Is GPU acceleration switched to CUDA, Lawrence? Check in the lower right corner of the Queue panel. The Xeon processors don't have Quick Sync.

Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,

Turns out the hw encode is cpu decode starved. I need to get more cores for the software decode, source file is from EVS - UHD AVC 600mbit 10 bit.

Thanks,

Lawrence

Hi Kevin,

I'm product manager for Media Encoder and I'd like to get some more information on what you're doing. The "up to 10x faster" is for 10-bit 4:2:0 media and not for 4:2:2

I'll reach out to you via email and perhaps we can setup some time to talk on the phone/video.

Regards,

Fergus

I just updated both After Effects and Media Encoder and the bug is still there. I can't export a file from After to Media encoder. it's very frustrating.

Exact same issue on my end. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, rolled back versions and still I cannot for the life of me get an AE comp to send over to AME or even drag over from AE.

Interestingly enough I can transcode any local footage file. If that helps the AE/AME team find a fix for this because it's just silly having to render huge files straight out of AE and then have to transcode to something lighter like MP4 in AME.

Adobe, please fix this!

it would be very helpful to install a plugin that could export a MP4 video from Render Queue as well.. we wouldn't need to use Media Encoder.

Same thing happening here. Also, when the render reaches 99%, it freezes on ME. It would be VERY helpful if there was .mp4 option inside AE.

I am regretting having installed the latest Premeier Pro update and Media Encoder update (22.2).  What used to take me 3 hours, is not at 15 hours and counting.  I have gone adjusted all the settings as described in this forum and others.  It starts out really fast and then just slows to a crawl. I have closed all programs and allowed it to run over night, but still going super slow.  I am using a Mac Min running Mac)s 12.2.1 with 3.2 ghz 6 core Intel I7 with 32 gb 2667 MHZ DDR4 memory.  It has an Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536MB.

I have been using this system for 1.5 years to do simple videos for our church children's ministry.  Only after updating have I experienced any issues.  Any help that can be provided is greatly appreciated.  This upgrade has me behind because by the rate it is going it will take about 24 hours to process a 24 minute video with very few graphics.

Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided!

The link between AE and AME is broken again. Had this issue for 2 month late last year and now it's back.

PLEASE FIX THIS

Can we get rid of the auto conversion for known log types?

I'm pretty sure nobody asked for this...

I can't create proxies of my footage now because the resulting image doesn't match source. At the same time it's not even a display rendering transform just a straight conversion wihtout tonemapping so attrocious looking in SDR (clips too). What's the point?

If you think it's worth having at least give an option to disable it or better yet make it an option to enable it!

Shebbe,  The proxy issue has been corrected in the Premiere & ME Beta versions. Although it is only correct when initiating create proxies from within Premiere. Hopefully they will add a preference in ME to allow users to choose. But, if you need it now. Creating proxies in Beta and then attaching them in the current PP release works.

Adobe software has become increasingly unreliable for me. I am constantly having to find workarounds to make renders happen. I can't get Media Encoder to work with anything using Dynamic Link, and often have to unlink and relink media between AE and Premiere Pro mid-project. (I also have found that I have to save an After Effects project before those changes take place in the render of a file which isn't that big of a deal, but it didn't use to be this way.) When I start loading a project into Media Encoder, the progress bar hangs at about 50% and never completes. I have to force quit. Then, when it tries to have me send a report, I can't type in the comments section. Using a 2019 MacBook Pro with i9, 32 GB RAM, Radeon Pro Vega 20 4 GB.

I can't export composition from AE to ME..
When trying to export from AE, ME launches but nothing gets added to the cue. I waited for an hour, nothing is added. When I quit ME I get a crash report message every time.

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled both apps.

I'm on Mac os 12.1
I have the latest versions of AE 22.2.1 and ME 22.2 (at the time of writing).
This was happening with the previous AE too, ongoing issue (about 2 months). I was hoping Adobe would fix it with the new updates but I guess not.

Adobe sort this out please, I'm paying good money for broken software.

I finally got around to this site to check what is going on with this application.

For the longest time I held on to the older versions of CC so I can have a peaceful workflow.

You know the basics like exporting from AE/PPro to AME.

This was great with ProRes and of course h264 (my go to daily export).

Every so often a designer or colleauge throws a wrench in and updates their CC and I have warned them to keep that away from me.

Oh well that obviously went south.

I had to update my CC to the latest and to date I still cant export an h264 via AME with out the video crapping out (after render) at 80% in. So no matter what lenght the footage just dies about 80% in to the clip.

The clip finishes rendering in AME but at playback is the tell.

I installed this latest version (post Im in) and still no fix to date.

This has been going on for years.

It was an issue with the MacPro 2013s and also with the 2019s.

My only fix is Im using iSkySoft as a converter.

Which is an freaking nightmare when you have audio involved.

I held my ground on this and to date we are still having this issue?

The only oddity about this is that some users I know are having successs but most are not as you can tell when you search for this issue on the internet.

Anyone know a fix using the latest, please chime in.

I am about to reformat my drive to roll back to CC 2018 for peace of mind.
