Connecting to Dynamic Link server...

Hi,

Since updating to Media Encoder 23.5 I'm having trouble connecting to Dynamic Link server.
I tried everything I could find in this community but nothing seems to solve the issue.
Uninstalling and downgrading ME and AE, resetting and deleting cache and preference files, checking and unchecking different settings in AE...

I'm running ME 23.6 right now on an Apple iMac running macOS Venturea 13.5.1

I also have to manually drop my comps into ME for them to show up in the list.
Using 'File > Export > Export To Media Encoder Queue' doesn't do anything. Same for the workaround by adding the composition to AE Render Queue and clicking 'Queue in AME'.

I didn't have these issues before 23.5 but downgrading to 23.4 doesn't help either.

Hope someone has a solution here...

Which version of after Effects are you using? The application versions need to be in sync.

Currently upgraded to the latest version of both apps.
AE 23.6 and ME 23.6

Similar problem here.  Currently on AE and ME 23.6, and MacOS 13.5.2.

I do, but it doesn't seem project related.
Even very simple animations (like this rotating square) don't seems to get through.

Your attached After Effects Comp easily renders on my MacBook Pro 16" (M1 Max, macOS 14) using Adobe After Effects 23.6.0.62 and Adobe Media Encoder 23.6.0.62 (see attached German language logs):

Can you launch AME? Can you transcode a video file?

Yes I can launch AME and transcode video files.

But After Effect compositions won't start rendering.

No, that's when I get the message 'Connecting to Dynamic Link server...'

Can you please try the following:

1. Make sure that versions of all apps match (required for DynamicLinkManager to work correctly).
2. Verify your own AntiVirus / GateKepper setup. If applicable, deactivate temporarily to verify.
3. Quit all DVA apps.
4. Use Activity Monitor / Task Manager to kill DynamicLinkManager if it still runs. (On Windows, you need to open the Details tab to see dynamiclingmanager.exe in TaskManager.)
5. Launch AME first.
6. Open & export the project again.

Updating to macOS Sonoma solved the issue.

Ok it stopped working again after updating to AE 24.0.3 it seems 🙈

Did you do any system upgrades, per chance? For example, the security updates? We are currently trying to find out what is happening here.

No, not that I know of.
I added Afer Effects and Media Encoder to have 'Full Disk Access' in my security settings but that didn't help.

Ok another quick update:
Read in another discussion about quitting 'DynamicLinkManager' in activity monitor.
I did that and opened Meda Enocoder to navigate to the composition I wanted to render trough 'Add After Effects composition' and it seems to work that way!

However, it is still not possible to export a compositions from After Effects to Media Encoder.
