Question

h.264 files render to four seconds and then stops, no freeze just stop

Hello, everyone,

I've just update Premiere and Media Encoder to the 2022 versions.  When I tried to render an h.264 file, the encoder got to 4 seconds, then just stopped.  No error message, just back to "Not currently encoding."  The files will render under other containers, just not h.264.  Is there something I'm suddenly not doing, or is this an actual bug?

Hello,

It appears that a lot of us are having similar issues. I recently updated to the newest AME and AE apps. I set some files to render on Friday which started to give me longer than usual render times. It was saying it was going to be about 5 hours for one 15 second render.

The fix: I double checked all settings, and found after a few attempts that the motion blur was not coming across. This cued me in to one thing I have been having some issues with after migrating. On the bottom right in your composition panel, next to your active camera, is where you find the Classic 3D versus the Cinema 4D renderer. Switched over to Classic 3d instead of the cinema 4d render. Worked like a charm.

All hang ups were fixed. Render time was reduced to 24 seconds, versus the hours it was taking Friday.

Double check your Renderer.

All respects, Jason, but that wasn't the problem for this thread.  The issue here was not lengthy render times, but the render stopping after several seconds.

Yes, it never finished rendering. It was just reporting that it was going to take 10 to 100 times longer than what was the usual. It wouldn't complete, and what few files did appear to finish, were corrupted.

Did you figure out a fix alternate to what I suggested?

I also saw that someone posted that there was an update for AME this morning. I couldn't find that either.

Does not work for me.

Last 5 seconds of my video looks like this if I try to export on server.

It works fine only if I export on my local drive

Same problem here, running 2022 AE/ME on iMac with 24 Gb of RAM, rendering .H264 in ME.

Encoder seems to have stopped at 58secs. The program hasn't crashed, I don't think - I can twizzle the queue and output preiviews up and down - just no action. This is disastrous for my work...

It seems to work if I export on my local drive, still not working if I try to export on my RAID, server or external drive

Same here. I tried upgrading to AE and ME to 2022 but nothing changes.

I also tried switching software/hardware encoding, nothing.

I'm exporting .MOV and then converting but I'm full of rage and have to solve this ASAP

The same for me, in After Effects send to Adobe Media Encoder, then start the render and just stop at few seconds. Since last update to 2022 versions of both.

please fix this asap.

I've been getting around it by exporting as an .AVI and then converting in HandBrake.

Yeah, but that is not a solution, I am exporting in render queue in mov and then converting to mp4 in premiere, but that is not acceptable from Adobe. Media enconder MUST work fine.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about this. Have you tried switching to Software Encoding under Export Settings > Video tab > Encoding Settings > Performance & checked if it's exporting properly?

Thanks,

Sumeet

The software encoding is all that's available.  How would you check for proper export?
