Can't reposition overlays in prototype mode

New Here ,
Sep 12, 2019 Sep 12, 2019

I suddenly can't reposition artboards that I'm using as overlays the green outline appears, but the reposition arrows aren't there. If I try to select it, the element in that place on the artboard is selected instead. I've tried zooming in and out, restarting XD, updating XD, no luck. This coupled with the lack of hover/focus state support is crippling my project. Any solutions?

Would it be possible to upload your file to a shared location and share the URL with us using dl-webpm1@adobe.com ?

Is this happening  only in this file or in all Xd documents?

Hi there,

We're sorry to hear that you are facing trouble using overlays in Adobe XD. I would like to confirm if the size of the overlay is smaller than the artboard.

For Hover function, please submit your feedback here: https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007-adobe-xd-feature-requests/suggestions/12941394-tap-hover... and upvote the request to add your voice.

Let us know if that helps.

Thanks,

Harshika

Yes, it's smaller than the artboard. I will share a doc to the email posted above via dropbox, but I just did some more experimenting and I think it has to do with adding overlays to groups vs elements and what you have selected at the time? It's super confusing, but let's say I've made a button that's going to trigger an overlay. The button consists of a rectangle with text on top of it, and those elements are grouped. Now, I add the overlay interaction, but I add it to JUST the rectangle, not the text. It works fine when I add it. But then let's say I want to go back in and edit the placement of the overlay. I select the button GROUP, click on the "handle" to edit the interaction, and I get all the interaction details in the right sidebar, BUT, no directional crosshairs on the green overlay box. If I then double click on the rectangle to select just in INSIDE of the group, THEN the directional crosshairs show up. This is complicated by the fact that directional crosshairs won't show up if you're zoomed out too far (which won't seem like too far, but apparently will be too far, because if you zoom in once they appear. So you never know if you've got the right level selected or not.

I had the exact same issue. By unlinking and linking again your artboard it should work. It's not ideal, but works in the time being.
