I am trying to use the assets panel to reuse color gradients in my project, unfortunately the gradient orientation/direction is not remembered, so need to correct everytime the preset swatch is used. Is there a way around this. Thank you.

That's the normal behavior, momentarily.

The gradient only submits its gradient type and colors (and their position on the slider) to the asset, not the direction within the shape. So it's still a bit flawed feature...

It has already been reported and filed as a bug on Uservoice since September 2018, but clearly the team has a hard time finding their direction with this feature...

Hi there,

We are sorry to hear you are having trouble using color gradient in Adobe XD. Would you mind sharing a short video or screenshot of the workflow so that we can check at our end? Are you using latest version of XD (25.3)? Are you using the Windows or Mac operating system?

We will try our best to help.

Thanks,

Harshika

Hello Harshika,

I am using:

Version 25.3.12.1 CC Sync 4.3.20.55

Mac Mojave Version 10.14.2

Hope the attached helps to explain the issue, as you can see the orientation of the gradient changes in each case.

Thank you, Wojtek

Thank you for your response Peter,

Will be on look out to how this feature evolves. (right now need to be careful as to what happens to the gradients when applied to assets) Would be nice if in the future there is an option to lock the orientation within a "color swatch asset." Would be a huge timesaver when applying a color swatch across multiple assets.

Thank you, Wojtek
