Design UI & Desktop Preview no longer full screen after update

Community Beginner ,
Dec 14, 2017 Dec 14, 2017

Hi all,

I've updated to version 3.0.12.7 of XD on Windows 10 and now find that the Desktop Preview is broken.  The content of the preview now only takes up a small percentage of the preview window rather than filling the available space.  This makes this rather essential feature rather unusable for us.

EDIT:  It seems it is not limited to the Desktop Preview. 😞  It also happens on the Design UI as well (see below).  This makes the situation even worse than previously stated.

Anyone else experiencing similar?

Cheers,

Will

An update...

I have now had reason to restart the PC and....the problem seems to have disappeared!  Slightly at a loss to explain why but will monitor the situation to see if it returns.  Suffice to say though that I have never had this issue prior to updating to the most recent release so may be something in that...

Cheers,

Will

Hi Will,

This is the first we've heard/seen of it. Doesn't look good!

Can you let us know a few things:

1. What version of Windows are you using?

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13443/windows-which-operating-system

2. What monitor are you using? And what display settings do you have with this? Is it fixed if you change the settings?

Thanks,

Daniel

Daniel,

Always fun to be the first... 🙂

OS: Windows 10 Pro (ver: 1703 / build: 15063.729) - 64Bit

3 Monitor setup (daisy-chained via miniDP) - 1920x1080 - Dell U2414H monitors

If it helps, on opening XD the content doesn't centre on the window either.

Cheers,

Will

Hi Kate,

This sounds like it might be a different problem. Would you mind opening a different issue with as much information as possible? It's not clear if it's a problem with the prototype, or with the OSX application, or both.

Thank you,

-Daniel

IT seems that it is

1. - has to do whit the way the link is saved in the cloud

2. - The viewport height - even when set smaller ... it will crop off the top of the pages

Hi Will,

Good news! Thank you for the update! We were struggling to make progress on it without being able to reproduce it.

UWP app windows can be very finicky sometimes. I'm not 100% sure if this is a bug in our code, or perhaps Windows. Considering that a restart fixed it, it seems either is possible.

We'll keep an eye out for it. If it happens again, please let us know.

Cheers,

-Daniel

Daniel,

Worth mentioning that I also use Windows' built-in virtual desktop feature (How to use multiple desktops in Windows 10 - CNET ) which could be playing a part.

Cheers,

Will
