Does anyone know why this is happening when I preview a long webpage?
Its showing the whole page as opposed to screen size.

Hi Ron, it's about the viewport height setting of the artboard. This shows up as a dashed line. It tells Xd what portion of the artboard to show, and if it matches the height of the artboard it will display it fully and scale it to fit the window. It is applied by default on new artboards from the presets, but when importing Xd doesn't always know what it should be. The scrolling might be disabled, in which case it will just show the whole artboard.

Hi Ronmirko,

Thank you for reaching out. Could you please share the screenshot of this page in Design mode to understand the settings of this page? Please also share the version of XD and the OS of your machine.

We will try our best to help.

Thanks,

Harshika

hi Harshika,
Thank you for getting back to me. After lots of trial and error I figured it out the end.
It was a sketch file I imported, so XD didn't recognice the dimensions fixed it to portrait. So I had to copy paste onto a new document and make sure it was set to landscape.
Again thank you for following up.
Ron

Glad to hear you are back on track. As rightly explained by Spas K on the below posts, the preview of the artboard depends on the viewport height which needs to be adjusted accordingly.

Thank you Spas K for your detailed explaination on this post.

Thanks,

Harshika
