How to open a file created with an older version of Sketch when you do not have Sketch?

Community Beginner ,

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry for my rusty English, but I'm French 😛

Two months ago, I was working on a Mac, especially on Sketch to create models.
Today, I work in another company, on PC and Adobe XD.
When I want to open, with Adobe XD, a file I made under Sketch, I have the following message:
"This file was created with an older version of Sketch, please open and save the file in the latest version of Sketch, and try again."
The problem, you've understood, is that I no longer have Sketch.
Hence my question: How to open a file with an older version of Sketch when you do not have Sketch?
Is there a Sketch to XD converter? When I search the Internet, I read that it is enough to open the Sketch file with XD, except that in fact, it does not work.

Do you have a solution?

Thank you in advance for your help.
Have a good day 😉

Hi Nicodecalog,

Sorry to hear that you are unable to open sketch file in XD. You can certanily bring Sketch files to XD, however, the files should be created in Sketch version 43 or newer. Please see this link for further details: - https://helpx.adobe.com/in/xd/help/working-with-external-assets.html.

I would also like to know which version of sketch have you used to save this file. Would it be possible for you to share the file?

Thanks,

Atul_Saini

Thank you for your answer Atul_Saini

That's right, I just found a solution.
I downloaded and installed the Lunacy software (which can be found for free on the icon8.com website)
I open my Sketch file (for info created in 2016 under a version of Sketch definitely lower than version 43 you're talking about) with Lunacy, I save my file (under another name).

Now, if I open this "new" file with XD, I no longer have the error message and most importantly I can open the file.

I hope this "tip" will serve others.
Have a good day 😉
