"Error loading document. Invalid document type." when reopening saved Experience Design File

I get this alert when trying to reopen a saved document.

Even after dragging my file to desktop and ensuring there is no # in the file path.

Happy to send file for troubleshooting but won't fit as an attachment within the forum.
